Biography My name is Babette Schrooten. Since 2005 I have been working as a freelance translator. My mother tongue is German and I translate from English and Spanish into German. My main focus is technical translations, especially in the area of materials handling. Further specialisations include medical texts and documents in the field of medical technology. Before I started studying translation at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, I worked as a medical technician for radiology during 14 years, first in a hospital and later on in two radiological surgeries. I also wrote medical reports for surgical, internistical and gynaecological departments. |

I grew up on my parent's farm, and riding and
dogs have always been my passion. Equestrian sport and dogs are now part
of my work as a translator, as well as agriculture with its growing
need of technical documentation.
I am an active honorary member in the executive committee of the association of interpreters and translators in North Rhine Westphalia (BDÜ-NRW). I am responsible for communicating with universities on behalf of our association, and coordinating the editorial side of the association's newspaper. |
